I'm really interested in learning more about these fund appreciation rights. I think this may be related to my performance fee structure for my fund: I get 25% of profits above 6% annualized (like the original Buffett partnership in the 50's and 60's) and I also have a restriction that I cannot remove more than 10% of that per year, so it's effectively a 10 year vesting period. I feel like I should be able to defer some of the taxes on this because there is effectively a chance I won't get it (if the fund goes down). How can I find more info on FARs?
